Review: Yogi Tea Vanilla Spice, Perfect Energy

Said to “Energize the Body and Focus the Mind,” I am drinking a cup of  Yogi Tea Vanilla Spice “Perfect Energy” around 11:45 a.m. and am steeping the tea for the recommended 4 to 6 minutes.

This particular Yogi Tea is a blend of Organic Green Tea and Organic Assam Black Tea with the Ayurvedic herbs Gotu Kola Leaf and Ashwagandha, which is said to help support clarity. I feel like we could all use a bit of that every now and then. I am using 1 tea bag which came with the quote “Love has no fear and no vengeance” printed on it and strikes me as pretty deep for a tag on a tea bag…

The initial taste is stronger than Chamomile tea, but weaker than Chai. The scent is very fragrant and informs a floral aftertaste. While it is warm the flavors of cinnamon bark and vanilla chai are pronounced. After the tea had cooled the flavors of licorice and honeybush stood out.

I selected this as a daytime tea because 8 oz. has about 10 mg less caffeine than a cup of coffee.

12:23 p.m. and am halfway through the cup. Not necessarily feeling “energized,” but my mind is “focused” on writing this…

12:57 p.m. within the last half hour I have made progress on 2 different projects, wrapped a present for a friend, read a passage in a book, sent a couple of texts and wrote this paragraph. Not sure if I should attribute this sudden burst of energy to the tea.

1:12 p.m. just finished the cup and I feel pretty good. Focused as promised but not really energized the same way I would be after a cup of java.

All in all, I enjoyed this Yogi Tea very much and would recommend it mainly as a morning “sipping” tea. Meaning that it’s probably ideal for sipping after you’ve consumed your morning jolt.
